Meet Jessica
I’m Jessica Epperson, a Licensed Professional Counselor. I’m passionate, energetic, and deeply motivated to help others heal and grow. I counsel multiple areas, but I focus on self-acceptance, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, learning differences, and children who display negative behaviors at home or in school.
I’ve loved helping people find their purpose for as long as I can remember. As I grew up, I realized that becoming a counselor was the perfect way for me to empower individuals to find their unique skills and thrive. My professional journey started at Southwestern Assemblies of God University where I received a B.S. in Counseling and an A.S. in Psychology. One year after my undergraduate work was completed, I moved on to the University of North Texas where I graduated with my M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
I am also married to my loving and kind husband. We enjoy exploring restaurants, events, and other local Birmingham sites. We also appreciate a good movie marathon! Personal spirituality is important to me and keeps me centered in my daily life.
My Approach
You weren’t meant to go through life feeling hopeless, alone, or lacking purpose. If you are wondering how to move forward with your life– now is the time for us to connect. I offer an authentic, interactive experience with you in the driver’s seat.
I specialize in Play Therapy for children’s ages three to twelve years old. Play therapy is a way of working with children in which they express themselves through play and toys. When I facilitate play therapy, I provide an environment where children experience safety and learn to feel confident, gain self-control, and tap into their potential. I also work with adolescents and adults using Talk, Expressive Arts, or Activity Therapy.
Many people seek counseling after years of feeling stuck and dissatisfied with their life. Others struggle to feel confident and empowered to create a life they love. In my work, I primarily use Person Centered Therapy or Child Centered Therapy. This is a counseling approach that focuses on creating a strong, empathic relationship with a client to encourage increased self-esteem and self-acceptance, decrease negative problems, and ultimately move forward in growth.
